Following Parkers ill fated reworking of the Resource Management Act that ran to almost a thousand pages and changed nuthin to improve productivity for the Nation, The Honourable Chris Bishop has had another go…..
Now what is proposed is not yet on my work desk but to hear the lead person from its creation saying they looked widely and mentioned the Scots, my ancestral forebears who dealt with such matters with Two Pages I am now keen to get a better understanding.
Naturally the suggested Opposition leader is wailing at the total absence in the draft of any reference to a “Treaty” without identifying what treaty he is referring to.
Now The sovereign Nation of New Zealand has almost 200 Treaties suggested to have varying degrees of effect on the nations daily existence
Of course there are two rather impactful Treaties that still have a resonance for New Zealand although the current administration had zero input in the creation of either.
The first was the treaty of Vienna that almost brought Napoleon’s impact to an end for most of Europe 25 years before a tawdry little parchment was offered to native chiefs at Waitangi awarding British citizenship and UK laws to all.
A second I offer was the rather spite ridden Treaty of Versailles to end hostilities of “The Great War” that had taken the lives of some 18000 NZ servicemen that many historians allege was a major factor in the creation of WW2
Anyway I digress The Propaganda arm of The NZLP then managed to persuade an obscure academic whose name was eminently forgettable, bewailing the ecological damage such legislative effort was bound to produce. Of course an academic who had never used his hands beyond possibly planting some cabbages or petunias in a spasm of agricultural activity would understand the intricacies afforded by Parkers epic to all and sundry to thwart any and all attempts to grow the nation
Back to two things if CHipkins was referring to that piece of Paper still being argued over as to what it actually suggested nearly 200 years later when those Natives who were coerced into placing X in various guises had very little to offer from their uninterrupted occupation of these islands beyond some wonderfully refurbished notions of sustainability while entirely ignoring the egregious damage to so much of their environment in so many ways. The Hast Eagle and the Moa both exterminated along with the poor little Huia who were forced to donate their tail feathers to Chieftanly adornments, three notables.
So one remains at a loss to understand what if anything the part Maori descendants of those represented by a few warring chiefs might have by understanding the intricacies of profitable activity whether in agriculture, building, and or working successfully any 21st century enterprise beyond a smidgen of nostalgia for perhaps some memory of good old days. Any worthwhile input will be accommodated by a one law for all and entrepreneurial citizens of whatever ancestry being enabled to succeed or fail as they will undeniably will.
Therefore whether it is CHipkins or the faceless occupant of some Ivory Tower, their response is just another measure of the idiocy that constrains good people from creating real wealth, that every citizen will be grateful for.
