That was the name of a pretty good movie from 1990 with a young John Cusack, Anjelica Huston, and Annette Bening. Having said that I haven’t watched it since because it’s pretty damned grim: plot spoiler, Huston’s character eventually kills the other two, even though Cusack is her son.

That’s often how grifters end their lives and so it’s entirely appropriate that it’s happening to the organisations that supported the Democrat Party and who were, in turn, supported by them with government money.

ActBlue Crisis Spells Disaster for Democratic Campaign Cash:

In just three weeks, at least seven senior officials have jumped from the sinking ship. We’re not talking about low-level staffers here — these are heavy hitters, including their top legal officer, chief revenue officer, and veterans who’ve been with the organization for over a decade. When people like this are running for the hills, something big is happening.

You may never have heard of them but they’ve been the Democratic Party’s primary fundraising platform for two decades now, a Political Action Committee (called PACs, or 501(c)(3)s after the IRS code) having funneled over $16 billion to progressive causes.

Congressional Republicans and 19 state attorneys general started investigating ActBlue for potential fraud, foreign donations, and suspicious contribution patterns, and the organization’s last remaining lawyer got locked out of his email after posting about whistleblower policies.

One aspect of the Congressional investigation was that they had asked Treasury to supply them with Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs, filed by banks) relating to ActBlue, and of course the Biden Administration refused to do so. Now, Trump’s Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, is of course cooperating, and it’s no wonder the banks were filing SARs, given what ActBlue was doing with thousands of small donations being made in the name of people who often had no idea they were being used:

This practice is known as “smurfing.” It is a type of identity theft whereby the names of small dollar donors are repeatedly used without their knowledge to mask large dollar political contributions that by law must be reported to the Federal Election Commission (FEC). The website Election Watch features a “Smurf Search” tool that allows users to search FEC data for implausibly large numbers of political contributions attributed to individual donors.

The list at the article is staggering when you consider it can only list so many (see their FEC data link):

  • Colorado resident made 57,138 contributions under 5 aliases over 6 years, totaling $234,441.
  • A Florida resident made 52,591 contributions under 14 aliases over a period of 3 years, totaling $387,720.
  • A California resident made 52,501 separate contributions under 9 aliases over almost 6 years, totaling $884,152.

There are thousands more like these that are now being pursued by Congress and those State AG’s.

The SARs details are new but private investigators such as James’ O’Keefe had figured this out years ago from other public records and went knocking on doors, speaking directly to these alleged donors, as this this X video showed. Some refused (obviously they knew the scam), while others were stunned to find out what was being done in their name.

There are also their strange “gift cards”:

And what uses was this money put to by ActBlue?

  • They funded a multi-billion-dollar network of far-left NGOs (see the list here) helping illegal aliens get into the US: Border Angels, Border Servant Corps Inc., Human Borders – a lot of Catholic charities.
  • Funding outfits supposedly helping with the LA wildfire recovery, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, United Way of Greater Los Angeles. As one politician pointed out, why do this through ActBlue, a partisan political action committee (they skim 3.95%)?

“Let’s say they raise $6 million in money for the fire that they pass on to these [501(c)(3)s]. The next $4 million that they take in from a major donor can go directly to a super PAC undisclosed without having to take a haircut. This lets a major donor give $4 million undisclosed to a Democrat super PAC.”

The other side of the question was where all the money was coming from and the general assumption was that it was the likes of billionaires like the ex-wives of Bezos and Jobs, plus Reid Hoffman, George Soros, Herbert Sandler, Patricia Bauman, (Sam Bankman-Fried above) et al.

But given the revelations about Sam Bankman-Fried a couple of years ago, plus the DOGE uncovering the pathways of the EPA and USAID sending taxpayer money to “NON-Government Organisations” (NGOs), who then passed them on to Leftist groups, it won’t surprise anybody if ActBlue turns out to be one of those recipients as well.

Just look at continuing revelations of taxpayers generosity to Democrat and Left-wing groups:

  • One of the recipients of EPA dosh was an NGO called Power Forward Communities, which was awarded $2 billion to supposedly help upgrade homes for renewable energy. But they were only a few months old, had all of $100 in the bank, and was directly linked with infamous Democrat loser and election denier), Stacey “Wide Load” Abrahms. Her last NGO had to pay a $300,000 fine to the State of Georgia for multiple campaign finance law violations related to her loser 2018 election.

She made things worse by then claiming they sent the money to other groups “with 250 years and $100 billion worth of experience”. Great, so why was a middleman like Power Forward needed, even assuming it had the ability to manage $2 billion? She also tried a sleight of hand by claiming that she wasn’t paid by them but another outfit called “Rewiring America” – except that they got money from Power Forward.
  • A guy who fought with Al Qaeda-linked Jihadists got a cosy job at Voice of America where he’s spent years attacking Trump (“Can Trump Be Indicted for Obstruction of Justice?”). The double scam here is that USAID appears again with an old program that was supposed to train Jihadis in Afghanistan to become reporters.
  • Federal funding of Sanctuary cities. The Feds actually supporting them breaking Federal laws, FFS.
  • Biden and the Democrats squandered more than $1 trillion on DEI indoctrination in just four years.

Actually a Democrat activist was just arrested the other day for scams:

Joseph Neal Sanberg, a 45-year-old Orange County, Calif. resident who billed himself as an “anti-poverty advocate,” was taken into custody on Monday after he was alleged to have cheated two investor funds out of $145 million, according to federal prosecutors…Sanberg’s arrest came after his alleged co-conspirator, Ibrahim Ameen AlHusseini, 51, of Venice, pleaded guilty to wire fraud after copping to receiving around $12.3 million in payments from the fraudulent scheme, prosecutors said.

Prior to these legal issues, Sanberg was active in political and social advocacy, particularly focusing on anti-poverty initiatives and efforts to raise the minimum wage in California to $18 an hour.

Of course he did. The “climate friendly” scam had sucked in the likes of Lefty actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Orlando Bloom and it won’t surprise me if it “sucked in” some part of the Federal bureaucracy as well.

All this time I’d assumed that the Left was getting all its money from the billionaires, but it turns out that that were getting it from GOP voters as well. Moreover, as this guy points out, after years of admiring the passion and numbers of Lefties in their protests:

It turns out that Democrats do nothing for free, and instead our tax dollars–funneled through America-hating NGOs–were in many cases paid to hired “demonstrators” to create that aura of political passion.

And of course there are the “in-kind” contributions to the Democrat Party and their causes, by various large American law firms – which is now also being taken apart by Trump:

On March 14, President Donald Trump issued an executive order targeting Paul Weiss for its DEI practices and for hiring attorney Mark Pomerantz, who had earlier “join[ed] the Manhattan District Attorney’s office solely to manufacture a prosecution against [Trump] and who, according to his co-workers, unethically led witnesses in ways designed to implicate [Trump].” The order rescinded security clearances that Paul Weiss had, terminated federal contracts, and limited access to government properties.

They caved in just one week:

  • Acknowledged the wrongdoing of its former partner Mark Pomerantz.
  • Agreed to a number of policy changes to promote equality and justice.
  • Adopted a policy of political neutrality with respect to client selection and attorney hiring.
  • Committed to taking on a wide range of pro bono matters representing the full political spectrum and ponied up $40 million in resources (meaning billable hours) to such. From here on the likes of the J6r’s may get defence from Paul Weiss to match that given to Islamic Jihadists in Guantanamo.
  • Committed to merit-based hiring, promotion, and retention, instead of DEI policies.

It’s quite the tell that the New York Times hit the roof, actually attacking the law firm as harshly as it has ever attacked Trump and the GOP. Sample headlines:  “How a Major Democratic Law Firm Ended Up Bowing to Trump,”Paul Weiss Deal With Trump Faces Backlash From Legal Profession,” “What to Know About Paul Weiss, the Law Firm That Gave In to Trump”, “How a Law Firm Decided to Fold Instead of Fight.”

Wah, wah, wah. I’m sure Paul Weiss is just as Progressive as ever; they’re just acknowledging the business reality. Sadly they’ll revert to form as soon as there’s a Democrat in the White House.

But of course the NYT also admitted what all this was doing, to the Democrat Party and although it’s an implied admission it’s still a bit breathtaking:

Executive actions intended to cripple top Democratic law firms. Investigations of Democratic fund-raising and organizing platforms. Ominous suggestions that nonprofits aligned with Democrats or critical of President Trump should have their tax exemptions revoked.

Mr. Trump and his allies are aggressively attacking the players and machinery that power the left, taking a series of highly partisan official actions that, if successful, will threaten to hobble Democrats’ ability to compete in elections for years to come.

Well I certainly hope so. The NYT is screaming to the rooftops that all these Trump’s initiatives are exposing how Democrat grifters have been feeding at the taxpayer trough for decades – and they’re not just worried about the money being cut, bad as that is. They’re terrified that voters are learning about all this.

This is really what it’s come to. The entire left-wing machine, from local grassroots activists at the bottom all the way to the left-wing law firms, nonprofits, and more at the top, is funded by your tax dollars, and the New York Times is saying in a not-so-subtle way that Trump is committing an impeachable offense for ending that gravy train.

Yep. Trump is tearing out the infrastructure guts of the Democrat party, No wonder there’s panic in progressive circles.

I am not yet tired of all the winning.
