Given that Polls prior to the 31 December 2024 showed there was significant support for the Treaty Principles Bill and this support was not reflected in the numbers you released from submissions last week I am requesting the following information under The Official Information Act 1982.

1.    Total submissions received.

2.    Total numbers for the Bill.

3.    Total numbers against the Bill.

4.    Numbers for the Bill discarded due to foul language, racisim etc.

5.    Numbers against the Bill discarded due to foul language, racism etc.

6.    Total number of Submissions received during the 7 day extension time allowed for submissions. Extension period was 7 January 2025 until 14 January 2025.

7.    Total number of submissions for the bill in that time period.

8.    Total number of submissions against the bill in that time period.   

9.    How many of those `extra’ submissions against the Bill were rote submissions by school children and others ineligible to cast a vote – eg those under age, in prison etc.

10.  Were those `rote’ submissions against the bill discarded or included in the count which was released.

11.  Or were they counted as 1 submission – as per submissions sent in through Hobson’s pledge even though they may well have been individually worded submissions.

I look forward to receiving the information requested within the 20 working days required under the Official Information Act.

As this is my first ever request under the Official Information Act I will be happy to provide any further information you may require to clarify my requests.

If my submission format is not correct I would appreciate it if you would direct me to the correct format for such OIA requests.

As this is my first such request I have no idea if it is in order but, I have followed a format I found by googling OIA requests.

When I raised the matter of submitting such a request in the Kiwiblog GD last week regular commenters Ghost and Labour Troll Mike told me such requests are `out of order’ and pretty much ridiculed the idea..

I now wait to see what response I get from the Justice Dept and will provide updates as they come to hand.
