Perusing Chris Trotter’s new Substack place I see one of the latest is about Trump’s tariff war, The Persistence of Gravity, where Chris avoids the easy shots and delves into the history of how we got here, including his side’s history of fighting against free-trade and globalisation, trying to save all those “Rust Belt” communities across the Mid-Western USA, and similarly here, with this telling quote:

This left-wing opposition was understandable. After all, the 35-year commitment to “managed” capitalism that lasted from 1945 until 1980 was probably as close to socialism as they were ever likely to get without gulags.

The comments are far more extensive than at his old Bowalley Roadblog, 109 to date, (a sign that he’s made the right move) and consist mainly of Leftists fighting with each other over Woke vs Class Action as a basis for recovery, with the former either dismissive or in full denial about its impacts on Left-Wing parties in the West.

There was some talk about Bernie Sanders and AOC (Alexandria Occasional Cortex) touring the US and getting big crowds, as an example of the Democrat Party successfully appealing once more to working people, especially all those young men they’re losing (not just a US thing either, as the Left have noticed here).

It is thus with a delicious sense of schadenfreude that on this tour Bernie had his own encounter with Woke the other day, helped along by his good friends at CNN, gagging for Democrat victories: watch Bernie’s face!

It gets even funnier with the question she asks him:

Polling and turnout data indicate that men of all racial demographics are turning away from the Democrat Party. But of course white men in particular do not feel that the DNC’s messaging targets them in the issues that they care about.

You could say that the Democrat Party needs an messaging adjustment, because it’s exactly this sort of condescending, hectoring bullshit that has so thoroughly repelled voters, particularly young males, aside from striking a lot of people as just an abnormal way of dealing with other humans.

But as Auron MacIntyre says:

The left can never address the issues facing young men because the eradication of masculinity is the goal. The only thing the left can offer any man is the promise that they will be eaten last

You don’t believe it? Have you lived through the past forty years, especially been on a varsity campus in the last twenty? The Empowered Woman feminism of the 1960’s-1990’s slowly got replaced by what had been a fringe up to that point, feminists who think that society can only be improved if typical male things (masculinity) are suppressed by female things (empathy, caring). For example, here’s a riff on some common feminist sayings that I’ve encountered since the 1980’s – but with the genders reversed.

There’s also something else going on here, and it’s another irony that the most appropriate term to apply is one invented by the modern Left – White Privilege

Plus this story out of Illinois, where a 13-year-old middle-school girl from Deerfield confronted by school officials and ordered to disrobe in front of a male classmate, and then her mother, Nicole Georgas, standing up for her daughter’s privacy at the School Board meeting was repeatedly mocked and insulted by hostile trans activists. But it wasn’t them who forced the disrobing, it was these three:

“The male student was present in the girls’ locker room,” Georges said at the school board meeting. “Feeling violated, the girls made the choice not change into their PE (physical education) clothes with a biological male present.”

The next day Georgas said, the officials at Alan B. Shepherd Middle School tried to bully a girls’ PE class into changing in front of the boy. “(The administrators) all came into the girls locker room, making them change into uniform. This went on all week,” Georgas said. “My daughter refused to take part in her privacy being violated. How dare they!”

Astronaut Alan B. Shepherd must be turning in his grave.

They’re afraid. Afraid of the AWFLs. Afraid of saying one thing that would anger them, and cost them social status in their leafy suburbs that once sported those Hate Has No Home Here signs on the front lawn. Or they’re in hiding.

In the wealthy suburbs the men (or the male impersonators who married those women) say little, lest they incur the wrath of the AWFLs. These are corporate towns, and men in such towns are corporate types. And in corporate suburban towns, whether in Loudon County, Virginia or Beverly Hills, California, or Martha’s Vineyard there is but one religion: Social status.

And they would sacrifice anything to protect their social status. Anything. They would have their own sons castrated to protect their status.

Instead it’s left to feminists like J K Rowling to say how the fight should be made – also watch the embedded video of Georgas at the school board meeting.

As above, the Democrat Party is stuck between Scylla and Charybdis. They have handed their party over to a bunch of single, mentally ill women and now those women keep the entire party hostage. The Party can’t dump them because they need them. At the same time, you will never win men back with this sort of shit – ever.
