I was looking at the information about who “donated” how much money to each of the political parties.
Veeeeery interesting to see how generous some high net worth individuals are and also how they “magnanimously” supported more than one party.
I think I might have noticed a trend for the most “generous” who “selflessly gave” $20,000.00 to $500,000.00 of their “hard earned” wealth to the 3 parties that are currently governing us “for the common good.
Just by chance?, The National Party received the $500,000.00 “gift” and more than twice as much as any other party over all.

These donors were not so generous to the parties that are now in the opposition but fortunately many of their influential members, candidates and current MPs chipped in to help fund their campaigns and demonstrate their loyalty to the victims of social and economic injustice. Even Mr. Hipkins “chipped in” $23,000.00 to help these poor victims.
The Green Party MPs also generously supported their party to “save the planet”, How kind.

There are 20 political parties on the list but only 5 received much financial backing from generous business owners and influential political party members and celebrities who seem to care so much for the future of our wonderful nation and all of its lovely people.
I am quite sure that God (whatever God might be) will reward these people for their kindness.

There were also many fine folk who sacrificed less than $5000.00 but they names do not appear on the official lists.

I am not saying that money can buy influence in government decisions or that influential political and economic “elites” bought our votes. You can ponder that for yourselves.

What I do wonder about is why there are so many political parties that no-one seems to want to fund?
As I recall, MMP enables al the people that are dissatisfied and suspicious of the motives of the influential officials of the main political parties to become equally represented in their government.
What a great idea but it does not seem to work out that way because none of the representatives of these dissatisfied citizens get elected to represent them in their government.

Surely not but could it be that the deciding factor is MONEY?

Could the real intention of MMP was to keep these deplorable dissenters out of the well funded parties so that they would not infiltrate, disrupt, gain influence, authority, power and get in the way of the social progress and economic prosperity that their “betters” are trying so hard to create (for all of us of course)?

It seems to me that some or all of the generous donors might be getting more social progress and economic prosperity than the average productive wage and salary earner whose daily efforts contribute so much to the national wealth but their names do not appear on the list of political party funders.

Perhaps these common people are just selfish or more likely too poor and concerned with trivial matters like food, clothing, shelter and trying to survive to bother about who plays and wins the GAME OF THRONES we call NZ politics?

Dividing we simple people up into so many different groups that blame one another for our sorry lives and rely on “the government” to look after us might even be “for the common good”. If we were united and actually cared for one another we would probably gain political influence and obviously not be able to make the “right” decisions for ourselves and one another.

So, thank those few generous donors of the successful political parties for Dividing, Conquering and Ruling the rest of us FOR OUR OWN GOOD.
