I did not know there was such activity inside the active volcano.
This must be down to Maori Science, a hot tub sauna and skiing.
Sounds like a right windfall to me.
Having a history of two decades skiing “on” the Ice ridden pile of volcanic rocks I was totally unaware of the “inside” attraction?
Aah well maybe back to Mt Hutt for some real powder snow not the groomed ice crystals of Turoa.

This mountain was a part of my and my family’s life for decades.
Until the dimwits at RAL ruined it. Gribben and Copland should be put in stocks and buckets of rotten fruit set out for throwing at them.
The gondola was too expensive, of little use to skiers, and lead to the removal of the Waterfall Express chair which made the best part of the area unskiable in bad (most) snow years.
The dishonouring of life passes was the final straw. Ruapehu skiiing is dead to me and we spend out money in Queenstown and Japan now.
