It’s almost as if ACT and NZF are the two old wings of National now fighting/cooperating out in the open – the “Liberal RW economic” wing and the “Conservative Social and Economic” wing.
I’m reminded of cartoonist and commentator Tom Scott (not the rapping asshole) who quipped back in 1982/83, in one of his Listener columns, that NZ politics could be imagined as a doubles tennis match with Muldoon and Anderton vs Quigley and Douglas.
