Then for a crowning achievement, the food waste is transported over 200 Kms to Reporoa for processing?
Lets be generous and allow that a truck and trailer can convey 30 tonnes of waste and with 40 000 tonnes a year, that will relate to around 1 333 trips a year, a total in excess of 500 000 road miles.

The Last government decided in their ultimate wisdom to perpetrate this bargain procedure on the rest of New Zealand local governments?

I understand I am not “Normal” so my total food waste of around one liter in volume per week can be easily accommodated in the 50 liter Green waste bin, that I am already paying to be emptied each week.

I have seen estimates of food waste amounting to to around $ 3 000 000 000. 00 annually

Therefore that is really a problem and we are constantly berated that cost of living is real????

Well the bins, the liners, the collection, the transport to Reporoa when how many could have a bin on their property, but there is no opting out. One size fits all?
