After a lot of screeching about Germany’s AfD Party been all Far-Right Extremist, via a “secret” 1100 page report from the nation’s BfV intelligence agency, which would have enabled even closer surveillance of these potential Nazis – especially the lesbian ones – TPTB have now changed their minds:

Germany’s Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) has walked back its designation of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) as a “proven far-right extremist organization,” halting the surveillance activities tied to that classification while a legal challenge from the party proceeds.This decision comes amid heightened transatlantic tensions and mounting concerns over political surveillance practices.

The bit about “heightened transatlantic tensions” is code for the fact that prominent American GOP politicians absolutely tore the new German government a few assholes about all this – from Tom Cotton demanding US intelligence agencies cease working with the German ones, to Secretary of State Rubio (his  ‘tyranny in disguise‘ line would have stung) to VP Vance.

Meanwhile back in the USA Trump’s team is hard at working rooting out the same sort of assholes:

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has fired the top officials leading the National Intelligence Council — whom whistleblowers describe as “radically opposed to Trump” — and has moved the agency to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, or ODNI, to ensure she can block any “politicization of intelligence,” ….Gabbard fired Mike Collins, who was serving as the acting chair of the National Intelligence Council, and his deputy, Maria Langan-Riekhof,

They got caught by whistleblowers, who are protected by law, so after years of praising such people the Democrats can’t shriek and rage at them.

Just as a measure of what assholes these people are:

Collins was closely associated with Michael Morrell, the former deputy director of the CIA who worked to write a public letter in 2020 claiming that Hunter Biden’s laptop had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation,” and to get signatures from top ex-intelligence officials.

Of course. Another tell is that former CIA director John Brennan is livid about this. If he’s angry then you know you’ve done the right thing. He voted for the communist Gus Hall in the 1976 Presidential election but still got hired and promoted by the CIA. He’s also the guy who spied on the Senate back in 2014 when even the Democrats were pissed at him.

They all should been fired on Jan 20, 2025 but it takes time to find the bastards.

That’s like a third of the workforce. A third of the crime doesn’t happen here. So, we’re taking 1,500 of those folks and moving them out.

Their building, opened in 1976, is a Brutalist dump anyway. A friend of mine had to visit there frequently in the 2000’s and they had construction safety nets over the entrances because of pieces breaking off the building and hitting the sidewalks. They were still there in 2020.
