Stochastic Terrorism is a truly clever piece of rhetoric that one can admire for its pure propagandistic potency.… the goal is not to establish the idea of Stochastic Terrorism and hold all people up to new, higher, standards but to establish and maintain rhetorical asymmetry.

Stochastic Terrorism was all the rage several years ago as yet another theory that escaped its academic bounds for use among the proles – Left-wing proles that is, for use against Right-Wing proles (Great Replacement theory, etc). However its appeal “has become more selective“ as people have realised that – despite the quote above – it can be applied across all movements and their speech.
The theory is that although you might not be able to link any particular incident of terrorism to what is said in public, in online platforms, Social Media sites and so forth, you can make a stochastic prediction; with enough speech pushing certain ideas you can predict a certain number of terrorist incidents based on those ideas.
For example if you have thousands of people in the West chanting phrases like “From The River To The Sea, Palestine WIll Be Free”, plus accusations that the Jews in Israel aren’t just waging war but conducting genocide against the people in Gaza, plus other chants like “We Will Honour Our Martyrs” and “Globalise The Intifada“ then stochastic terrorism theory tells you that incidents like this will happen:
The Feds have filed a Criminal Complaint and Supporting Affidavit against Elias Rodriguez for the shooting murder of two Israeli Embassy staffers killed outside an American Jewish Committee event at the Jewish Museum in DC.
…
RODRIGUEZ is captured on the video advancing closer to the decedents, leaning over with them with his arm extended, and firing several more times. As Decedent-1 attempted to crawl away from RODRIGUEZ, he followed behind her and fired again. After a brief moment, RODRIGUEZ appeared to reload his firearm. At the same time, Decedent-1 sat up. Once he reloaded, RODRIGUEZ fired several times at Decedent-1. – Police Affadavit
Wow. He really, really wanted to kill them; shooting a person is bad enough, but even most humans would react with a little shock and stop once their targets are down, especially if they’ve never shot or killed anyone before. But this guy just kept going in the cold-blooded manner you usually only see in movies about serial killers.
Oh, and he’s a communist, a member of the “Party For Socialism And Liberation,” which 20 years ago split of from Workers of The World, presumably because they weren’t violent enough.
He came all the way from Chicago to Washington D.C. to do this. But why did this man choose “Palestine” as an issue? He could have chosen a dozen different conflicts across the world. Is it because Jews are involved? I’ve added the tag “Antisemitism/Jew hatred” to this post (I prefer the latter term) but unlike Hamas and many other Islamic Jihadist groups I don’t think that was his motivation. Stochastic terrorism theory provides a possible answer:
The killer made no bones about that himself, afterwards yelling things like “Free Palestine, I did it for Palestine, I did it for Gaza“, while wearing a kaffiyeh. Were Yaron Lischinsky and Sara Milgram combatants? Were they in uniform, bearing arms for Israel? Or were they unarmed civilians, the preferred targets of the globalist left and their partners, Islam?
There’s also this aspect, which tracks with association with the Party For Socialism And Liberation – which is naturally distancing themselves from him as far and as fast as possible – and the motivating context that could be provided by post-colonial/decolonisation theory – upon which were applied the speech that stochastic terrorism theory is concerned with:
They’re not the only ones distancing themselves; the MSM is on the same escape route from responsibility. Whatever We Do, We Must Declare That Leftists Calling for “Intifida” Are Absolved from Blame, like this:
The eyes?
You know the thing about a shark, he’s … got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll’s eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn’t seem to be livin’… until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then…. Oh… then you hear that terrible, high-pitched screaming. The ocean turns red, and in spite of all the poundin’ and the hollerin’ … they all come in… they rip ya to pieces.
Great ending quote..
That USS Indianapolis scene was chilling…
Do you ever get tired of excreting dull propaganda in support of the world’s worst people? Especially given no one reads it. It must crush whatever it is that has taken the place of your soul.
I tend to agree that the term “stochastic terrorism” is a bit of over-intellectualised academic jargon for what used to be called “incitement to violence.” I also think that you pointing out how the term can be legitimately used (as being an incitement to violence) against some pro-Palestinian supporters who target Jews because of Israel’s actions and their support for it.
I remain of the opinion that we should not conflate hate crimes with terrorism in every instance, as explained in the cited Kiwipolitico post.
Cheers.
I agree on that last. I don’t think this was an act of terrorism, although frankly I’m sick of “hate crimes” as much as I am of “social justice” and other similar combobulations.
“Murder”, “killing” and plain old “justice” does me fine.
There’s nothing amusing about killing two incredibly good looking young people like this, but if I had to be amused, it would be by the fact that they were actually Christians. Dispensationalists, sure, but it reminds me of the abortion clinic shooter Robert Dear, who took the lives of three people, and none of them was actually an abortion doctor. I mean, if you’re going to do it… I mean… right?!
I gotta disagree though. Murder is when you hate someone personally and seek to kill them. Terrorism is when you just hate anybody who supports what you hate, and then you do what you do. This was 100% terrorism.
