I have never been a fan of Duncan Garner but this `Slam Dunc’ podcast is well worth a listen.
It is right on the mark as far as summing PM Luxon’s performance up and is about a 12 minute watch/listen.
What did you think – Duncan Garner on the money?

Calling economics Professor Robert McCulloch… and say please.
Further proof the old boy network doesn’t work. Flake Luxon has been horribly exposed as operating well beyond his competence level. Unfortunately for us his prime asset, the Minister of Finance, is no better, and is probably worse. She maybe able to write about finance but she clearly cant do the job.
Luxon reminds of that other failure, promoted beyond his competence, cant remember his name but he was onstage before Luxon as leader of the opposition for a short 4 weeks, ex Fonterra.
One only has to look at Luxon’s career and read behind the veiled curtain, moved on by the hidden grey men. I would have thought ambassador to London was an opportunity to move him on again. Clearly Chair of the Board of ANZ is not the option that was given to Key after his failure.
As a businessman fighting to keep my business’s alive I have seen the Luxon type before, shiny pants as one colleague describes them, and useless. But that was obvious when he was leader of the opposition and as the election campaign wore on supporters began to drift away. Now you just loath the shallow husk of the guy. He’s got a 40 foot yacht, resign and go sail it at Omaha, the country would be better off, or no worse.
As for Dunc I am more and more impressed. Initially I thought nothing more than another useless voice from the Left but he has developed and I enjoy his approach and original thinking.
Luxon got rid of Air New Zealand’s teal livery, which is a bit like being the CEO of Coca Cola and saying “You know what? Red just isn’t working for us…”
The man is a literal knobhead.
Duncan saying we can borrow heaps more is wrong. That’s like getting heaps of stuff from the truck shops because you can, and then crying about how you can’t pay it back.
I think he’s right in that Luxon hopes people will be scared off by the Mazi Party, but the fact is that there’s a baked on support for them and the Greens. Luxon isn’t doing enough to peel off the more centrist voters from labour.
