When for what ever might actually lead one to participate, many do not “serve” they merely do something that appeals to their inner drivers.
All the while so many who go out of their way to be a good citizen will never be so endowed with a few random Letters on their death notice and maybe a part of an obituary whether of exceptional value or not.
Oh and once more on reading the list of wannabees and self promotors many who were just fortunate their efforts attracted notice not a single person honoured for “Services to Citizens of European extraction”?

Politicians are the ones that truly do my head in.
“Hey we paid you well to do a job and oh, we should also give you an award for it”
Oh and I loved it when Jacinda Ardern told us all that she had “mixed feelings” about awards – while happily accepting one.
