(I still can’t get my head around “King’s Birthday Weekend”, such is the long shadow cast by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.)

Let’s start with brain rot, specifically Italian brain rot for little kids:
There was a moment, a year ago, when all they wanted to hear was the Eighties anthem Everybody Wants to Rule the World. “Why are our children into Tears for Fears?” I asked at the time. “It’s because of Skibidi Toilet,” my wife said. Skibidi Toilet is a YouTube series in which lavatories with human heads set in their bowls do battle with robots. One of the characters has Everybody Wants To Rule The World as their theme tune.
Click on the link to discover more of these characters, such as Ballerina Cappucina, whose head is a cup of frothy coffee, Bombardino Crocodilo, a copy of the Little Boy Atomic Bomb (not a “WWII bomber” as the article has it) but with a crocodile’s legs and head attached, plus many othera. The journalist does a survey of the kids to find out what’s going on and emerges little the wiser, but at least with the information that the trend is already dying, apparently because the kids themselves think it’s destroying their minds.
Meanwhile across the pond Tommy Robinson has been released from prison – again – and has much to say in this 30 minute video.
On that note, this article by an ex-British cop delves into the recent past to find out exactly why the British Police have become anarcho-tyrants, arguing that, like most things in a democracy, people voted for it via Labour and the “Conservatives”, The Police We Deserve:
The British police were once considered paragons of reasonableness. Unlike America’s gun-toting cops, or the Continent’s unshaven gendarmes, our coppers were supposedly a model of tolerance and discretion. They were too soft for some. Too violent and corrupt for others. Yet, for many, the police were the temperature of Mother Bear’s porridge. Just right. We, more or less, had the police we deserved. Now British policing is synonymous with knee-taking and Pride parades. Acting as the paramilitary wing of social services. Of enforcing political dogma masquerading as ‘law’. Many Britons now view the police, at best, as providers of crime reference numbers for insurance claims. What caused this fall from grace? How did they lose their way?
Another ex-cop, Julian Foulkes, from Gillingham, Kent, has experienced this up-front, having just received a £20,000 award and an apology from the Kent Police for a wrongful arrest.
Julian Foulkes, from Gillingham, Kent, was handcuffed at his home by six officers after replying to a pro-Palestinian activist on X. Kent Police officers searched his home and commented on his “very Brexity” book collection. The force detained the 71-year-old for eight hours, interrogated and issued him with a caution after officers visited his home on Nov 2 2023.
None other than the chief constable phoned in the apology but I’m more concerned about the calibre of the cops and the processes that allowed this to happen – and it’s happened a lot1 in recent years, Foulkes is hardly alone. What’s changed there to stop it happening again, in Kent or anywhere else in Britain?
It seems that much of the damage was done long before the worlds of Covid-19 and social-justice fanaticism, with thousands of experienced cops quitting and not being replaced by the technocrats at the top, balancing a rapidly increasing load of new duties.
At one point, over two-thirds of Metropolitan Police response officers’ time was spent supporting social services and the NHS with mental health cases…. [Theresa] May is, to coppers, what Margaret Thatcher was to the miners. The difference? Unlike coal and coal miners, the demand for policing and policemen isn’t — and never was — artificially propped up by the state.

And here I thought she was useless merely because her mis-handling of Brexit.
It’s therefore not surprising to see takes like this on Britain, Britain is sleepwalking into total state control of our daily lives:
As AJP Taylor once wrote, “until August 1914 a sensible, law-abiding Englishman could pass through life and hardly notice the existence of the state beyond the post office and the policeman”. That is emphatically not the case today. Having won the wars, the advocates of freedom comprehensively lost the peace. They lost to such a degree that those of us born and raised afterwards find it hard to comprehend the scale of the change.
Reading that you get the impression that Thatcher barely made a dent in the behemoth.
Jumping back to Yankland it seems the Democrats are getting angrier in their powerlessness and uselessness, if that’s possible. Now they’re making clear what they will do when they win power again:
“Democrats need to make it clear that we’re not going easy on the guy if we retake the majority,” said Casar. “We can use our subpoena and investigative power in a majority to look into Musk or any other billionaire that has broken any criminal laws enriching themselves using the power of the White House.”
The J6 prisoners, pro-lifers and other political opponents who felt the edge of the Biden Administration’s sword are simply shrugging their shoulders and asking what else is new, aside from the Democrat party no longer pretending to hide its totalitarian impulses. The idea that they won’t stop at billionaires like Musk is already baked into the cake.
Okay, so Casar is an insane radical who was part of reducing the Austin Police Department’s budget by $100 million in the name of Black Lives Matter, but people like him are no longer as fringe as they were inside the Democrat Party even five years ago. American voters should believe them: Florida Woman ‘Stands Up for Her Country’ By Opening Fire on a Tesla [VIDEO].
And while the Democrat Party is in poor shape right now, from losing “Young Men Of Colour” (basically Hispanics)….
…. to being just flat-out unpopular:
Democratic Party favorability has plummeted to a record-low 29% in March, dropping 20 points since 2021. During an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” Towery said rather than pivot toward economic messaging that could resonate with voters, the party appears locked into divisive cultural rhetoric and aggressive posturing that has alienated much of the middle class.
… driven largely by their own voters giving up on them:
But rest assured, they’ll be back again, if their efforts in Texas are anything to go by, all they need is for the other side to rest and relax – or turn traitor:
With a clear 88-62 majority in the Texas State House, 36 Republicans broke camp and joined with 49 Democrats to select the Texas Speaker of the House….So now we have a Texas State House, with a majority of 88 Republicans passing unconscionable legislation, such as HB 366, criminalizing political memes. Here we are just days before the calendar deadline that will kill most bills, and our Republican Party of Texas legislative priorities are at risk of dying.
…
Leftists have a grand strategic plan when it comes to invading red states. They overtake the major population centers, where the abject failure of their governance is visible. Then that cancer metastasizes into the surrounding municipalities and counties, the suburbs. This is what is happening in Texas.
….
These are just examples, and there are many others, as to why the leftists feel that they can slowly, like boiling a frog, flip Texas. As long as Republicans are apathetic and continue to elect those who want to pet socialist rattlesnakes, we are on this road. Next year we have the crucial midterm elections. The left in America — in Texas — are depending upon Republican apathy in not showing up, and enabling them to reclaim legislative majorities.
It worked in Colorado and it can work in Texas – and if it does then it’s game over for America.
