“Asses” in the American vernacular. I don’t think there’s a constituency for that, but the sole member of Congress from the very Left state of Vermont (Bernie Sanders playground for decades), Democrat Becca Balint, is being honest:
if we don’t have avenues for people to come here legally to work or to build a home here… we’re not gonna have anyone around to wipe our asses because we don’t have enough people
Doesn’t she know how to do that herself? Also it’s quite an insight into Democrat Party thinking but it tracks with their general attitudes on many issues towards the peons they try to rule. We are here to service them with our tax dollars, possibly our hands (with a towel) and ultimately with everything we’ve got.
She did get some kickback.
Jokes aside there’s no question that Western nations are slowly becoming aware that we’ve got some serious problems coming up in the future due to low birth rates, which are going to seriously screw with our economies as increasing numbers of aged people are dependent on shrinking numbers of young people.
And this is already seen here in New Zealand in the actual ass-wiping world of our retirement homes, which would collapse were it not for the thousands of young Filipino woman to take care of our elderly. All of those woman that I have met while visiting aged friends and relatives in those places, have been incredibly kindly and intelligent.
They were also all married or about to be, to men who seemed to have decent jobs. Most had more than one kid and most were continuing their studies, often for nursing, in the hope of moving into those areas later in life. They are admirable people who have greatly contributed to our society in keeping our retirement and health-care sectors afloat – doing jobs that New Zealanders apparently don’t want to do – and who will contribute greatly to NZ society in the future.
Assuming they still think it’s worth staying here and that they can look to a future beyond wiping the asses of the likes of Ms Balint. Our departure numbers suggest that this might not be the case.
