Swatting is an American phenomenon where a person calls the cops to tell them that a violent crime involving firearms is being committed at a certain address, typically the home of someone that person is opposed to on some issue or other. The hope of the caller is that the armed police, especially a SWAT team (Special Weapons And Tactics) will crash in and accidentally kill the person in the home. It’s basically an attempt to use the authorities to assassinate an opponent.

And now it has been pulled on none other than the head of the freaking FBI, Kash Patel!

That’s quite an extraordinary escalation. Fortunately the Las Vegas cops (Patel’s family home is in Las Vegas) smelled a rat and called the home before doing anything.

However, the person who made the call needs to be tracked down and prosecuted. It’s been done before, in 2019 a California man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for carrying out a fatal 2017 swatting.
