I heard the newsreader say on the 8am bulletin this morning that the following South Island roads were closed either due to snow or due to potential heavy snow falls this morning.

  1. SH8 from Fairlie to Tekapo.
  2. SH80 from Pukaki to Aoraki.

Now who the hell would know what or where Aoraki is other than say (my estimate) 20% of New Zealanders.

Why the hell could they not say from Pukaki to Mount Cook Village.

After all you cannot drive any type of vehicle to the summit of New Zealand’s highest mountain – Mount Cook.

UPDATE: At 15.00 the advice is road closed (SH80) Pukaki to Aoraki Mount Cook.

Maybe Mike Hosking gave them a call. lol.
