That TV anchor, Zahra Khatami, couldn’t swallow the bullshit anymore when she quit a few years ago in the middle of yet another crackdown on the opposition by the Iranian regime.
But she was easily replaced and one of them, Sahar Emami, went further. She’s basically the Lord Haw Haw of Iran, which is to say that she’s one of the theocracy’s main propaganda artists on air, broadcasting every day on the regime’s state-run TV station IRIB about the awfulness of Jews and non-Muslims in general, with a specialty in savaging women who defy Islamic modesty laws. What makes the following even juicier is that she was right in the middle of yet another screed about the glories of “martyrdom” when the Israels hit the building – and she ran. Like alll the other pronouncements of the Iranian regime martyrdom is for other people – useful idiots.
She survived, turning up in another studio talking with another IRIB “reporter”.
The aftermath from the outside…
A translation of what he’s saying…
Younes Shadloo, Secretary-General of the Defense Group of the Iranian Broadcasting Agency. In these past few years, in all the operations of the Holy Promise, we have portrayed the manifestation of Iran’s authority and the defeat of the hegemony of the Zionist regime. This is the Iranian Broadcasting Organization. The command center of the Iranian media war and the center for strengthening the image of Iranian authority and the Iranian community and defeating the hegemony of the child-killing Zionist regime.
I don’t know how many of my colleagues were inside. I was on the first floor when it was bombed. I don’t know how many of my colleagues were martyred. I don’t know how many people were injured. They had told us to evacuate the Sarhama area, but everyone stayed until the last moment to show the world the image of Iran’s authority. Something the Zionist regime doesn’t want. This is for not wanting it. He thought, what will happen if he calls the Iranian Broadcasting Organization? Then you will see the sourness.
That video of the lady being cut off mid rant was pretty funny. I saw it this morning, and it went down well with my cup of coffee.
“In these past few years, in all the operations of the Holy Promise, we have portrayed the manifestation of Iran’s authority and the defeat of the hegemony of the Zionist regime“
That’s interesting because according to a number of commentators on a certain left wing blog, Iran has only ever wanted peace and has never threatened Israel
“I don’t know how many of my colleagues were martyred.“
And that of course is the real troubling part. The belief that it’s okay to die because it’s for a holy cause.
I know I wasn’t the best student but I did go to a religious school until college, and in fact even once won the religious studies prize for the year, and I just can’t remember ever reading: “oh if you could kill these dudes in my name I’d really appreciate it. thx . J”
(and I apologise for my terrible proof reading including spelling the word “won” as “one”)
Heh. I figured it was the usual auto-spell crap, so fixed it for you anyway.
