Well, well, well…. Direct from Dmitry Medvedev, former Russian President and now Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
And just in case he deletes this, here’s his message:
What have the Americans accomplished with their nighttime strikes on three nuclear sites in Iran?
1. Critical infrastructure of the nuclear fuel cycle appears to have been unaffected or sustained only minor damage.
2. The enrichment of nuclear material — and, now we can say it outright, the future production of nuclear weapons — will continue.
3. A number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads.
Let’s take these three points one at a time.
Point One
I’m not yet willing to buy into the idea that the three plants at Fordow, Isfahan and Natanz have been totally destroyed, but “unaffected”…”Light damage”? What utter bullshit. When the Yanks have fired cruise missiles at targets in the past they’ve destroyed what they hit. As to Fordow and the MOP bombs, since it’s all underground the damage is not obvious, but those weapons were built to destroy stuff hundreds of feet below the surface, the Yanks will have tested them, and are not in the habit of just throwing away such tools.
Point Two
Same for the claim that enrichment will continue. Still, it’s nice to know that it was for nuclear weapons. The phrase “now we can say it outright” is also a flapping-mouth incident. Nice to know they were willing to shill and lie for Iran, we can keep that as a reminder for other things Russia will say about Iran and other issues as well.
Point Three
Hang on! If the plants haven’t really been damaged why would Iran need to get them from other countries?
Also I call bullshit on the idea itself because who would risk selling such weapons to Iran? The only nation I can think of that would be desperate enough for cash and which is already offside with most of the rest of the world so has nothing to lose, is North Korea, and shipping such things to Iran is easier said than done. Would China even allow such a thing, given all the downsides?
If it was so straight-forward the Iranians and Norks would have done it already.
Background to Iran. Not commonly known.
