“The people have spoken…and they must be punished.” – Ed Koch, NYC Mayor 1978-1989
New York City that is. I’ve been across almost all of the USA – but not the North East, which remains on my bucket list. That means I’ve skipped the original 13 colonies, the Ivy League universities and not just NYC but Bawston, Vermont (“In what they call the Fall, the whole country goes to glory”), all the way down to the Georgia Peaches.
Why the fall? I already covered part of this in New York, New York, but it now appears the Democrat Party’s greatest fears have become manifest. The hardline, Far-Left, Jew-hating rich boy, Zohran Mamdani, has won the NYC Democrat Party primary, and thus, almost certainly the mayor’s office in the Fall election:

As of now, Andrew Cuomo, has conceded the race.
Let us once again run through Mr Mamdani’s key features:
Number #1 – Wealthy little boy
With the usual Luxury Beliefs. (“The newcomer is endorsing socialist policies that appeal to rich New Yorkers but will harm the working class” – the writer coined the term).
Like many other large cities, New York runs on a two-tier system. There’s the professional class clustered in the centre, and there are the people who keep the centre running but can’t afford to live in it.
And so they must endure long rides on public transportation to get to work. They keep their heads down and ignore the trash, the smell, the homeless men passed out across the seats. Working-class commuters see the sprawled-out bodies and try to make it through the ride without being harassed or stepping in puddles of urine. Many politicians and media outlets act like the public disorder problem is overblown. But fare evasion, open drug use and serious mental illness on the subway are still part of daily life.
…
To appear humble and relatable, [Mamdani] wears hoodies and stages photo ops of himself eating fast-casual meals on the subway. In reality, these are the self-fellating theatrics of the kind I witnessed as a first-generation student at Yale, which helped inform my theory about luxury beliefs.
Number #2 – Jew hater
Number #3 – Communist
That’s about it really. All other points are mere extensions of those. There is not one aspect of his political or ideological positions that will be a surprise to you if you know those three.
What.
A.
Surprise.
I did have to laugh at this editorial Board production from, of all the MSM, the Chicago Tribune:
Want to know how a socialist mayor would govern New York City? Ask Chicago
Johnson tried to float a $300 million tax hike — and failed. He tried to pass a “mansion tax” that would’ve hiked the real estate transfer tax — and failed. He’s built too few affordable housing units for too much money. He’s isolated himself from many of the state and federal officials he hopes will come to his financial rescue, and he’s done egregious special favors for the people who got him elected — namely, pushing an incredibly costly new contract with the Chicago Teachers Union. He forced out a highly competent schools chief who wouldn’t cow to his desire to borrow recklessly. His city is broke, but he wants to spend more. The list goes on.
Mayor Brandon is polling at 7%.
Still, every cloud has a silver lining….
You have to stay in Manhattan. Amazing place. Go there for Christmas then drive up to New Hampshire.
The good thing is that it’s New York – one halfwit mayor won’t kill it.
Sounds like a plan.
