Yesterday I received an email from Peter Williams through the Taxpayers Union suggesting that the Government decision makers may well retain Te Mana O Te Wai with only token adjustments.
So last night I sent the following email to19 Coalition MP’s, almost all of them backbenchers in Rural or semi Rural seats. A number of whom will probably be at risk of losing their seats next year if the Government does not pull its finger out on this and other Maorification issues.
Here is what I said.
Greetings Coalition Members Of Parliament.
On the 17 June 2025 I sent the following email message to PM Luxon, Deputy PM Seymour, NZFirst leader Peters, and Ministers Bishop, Jones, Potaka and Undersecretary Court and my Electorate MP Catherine Wedd.
Today I received advice through Peter Williams and the NZ Taxpayers Union that there is every likelihood that rather than being removed this awful Water Management system – Te Mana O Te Wai is possibly going to be retained with only some token amendments.
That is not good enough and I urge each and everyone of you to speak up and carry out the very clear promises that you and your parties made in the lead up to the 2023 election. Many of us gave either our electorate votes and/or Party Votes on the definite understanding the people we were electing to Parliament were honourable people who would keep their word and stick by their commitments
Maybe that is the case with those of you receiving this letter but, somewhere among the decision makers that I originally emailed are Parliamentarians letting voters down. At the risk of antagonising some of you I feel it rests with the National Party leadership who give the clear impression they do not have the heart or fortitude to deal with the antagonism which will almost certainly follow if Te Mana O Te Wai is removed.
I say it is up to you to step up and make it clear that you as representatives of the people that elected you all to Parliament expect Te Mana O Te Wai to be removed from the statute books – or whatever the appropriate wording is.
I for one am counting on you and I am pretty sure there are thousands of others like me spread throughout New Zealand.
FYI what followers is my original email.
Te Mana O Te Wai.

Come on readers we need to keep the messages coming to the Coalition Government members otherwise people like Luxon, Willis, Bishop, Goldsmith and others are just going to leave these issues in the
