In one of the dumbest brain farts of a generation the Conservation Department apparently want to plant Molesworth in Native Trees to mitigate the myth that is Climate Change.
Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb
Especially when the out going Manager, after a sudden resignation, says that the Conservation Department will not stump up with money to clear invasive Wilding Pines from the property. According to Stuff this morning former Manager Jim Ward has packed his dogs onto his Ute and walked off the job without working out his notice.
Here is a link to the Stuff article.
Now I do not know Jim Ward but, Son in Law who Manages a 9,000 acre Maori Trust block in the King Country says Jim is a good bloke, a highly regarded Farm Manager by his peers and Son in Law considers him a good friend. Okay he might be biased but, it is an opinion I have seen/heard from various media sources in the last couple days.
Including from Jamie Mackay from `The Country’ radio show yesterday – apparently Jamie went through school with Jim and he is going to try and get Jim on today or tomorrows radio show 12noon to 1pm both days. It should be a good listen if Jim comes on and opens up about what is going on behind the scenes at Landcorp (Pamu) and the potential impact on Molesworth – New Zealands largest and most iconic High Country Station.
Where is Conservation Tama Potaka on this?
Missing in action just like he is on the confrontational Maori matters.
Where is Labour on this?
Missing in action – understandable because they hate farmers and farming but, love the Climate Change rort.
Over the last 40/50 years there have been very few years that Landcorp (Pamu) as a group has shown a profit for its taxpayer shareholders so I say sell it.
Molesworth under the right private ownership should prosper as it gets rid of the Wilding Pine menace and should continue to to be an asset for New Zealand.
A Last Thought/Option
At last report I think New Zealand had about 200,000 on Job Seeker and other Unemployment type benefits. Starting from 1 September lets have those fit enough from these seconded in groups of 1,000 for two weeks at a time to clean up the Wilding Pine problem on Molesworth. Groups would spend two week on site and have $250 (after tax) each per week added to their dole payments
The army should be able to house them in tents and feed them and the Wilding Pine on Molesworth problem should be resolved or at least manageable by the end of the year.
It is past time New Zealand returned to work for the dole and to hell with the rent a mob protesters.
I have met Jim Ward and yes he is a good bugger, no BS, and his departure is entirely in character!
We can assume his frustration in dealing with a gummint dept.
It’s been some time since I looked at the numbers but IIRC Pamu owns about 15% of the dairy herd.
As a result, over on places like The Standard and TDB, whenever they’ve started screaming about Dirty Dairy and reducing methane emissions and so forth, I’ve told them that the next time they’re in government they can massively move forward on those fronts by getting rid of the government’s 15% share in the dirty industry.
Needless to say my comments are deleted on those forums, despite my lack of abuse or swearing or even insulting anybody.
Call it Posters prerogative but I have deleted my reply to Tom.
I would prefer to read more about the future of Landcorp and Molesworth than The Standard, Daily log and those that frequent those places.
Only if you’re lprent. Then you can be as abusive as you like to people. Perhaps it’s a side effect of thinking him thinking that he’s an intellectual giant when in reality he can’t even keep a website running.
And Bomber. Well he’ll just delete stuff because he’s a tiresome hypocrite.
I think at Kiwiblog several commentators over the years have referred to him as “The World’s Greatest Sys Op”. 😂😂😂😂
I saw him getting stuck into our Psycho Milt a few weeks ago with all the usual tactics you see him pull on right wingers. Psycho just handled it with his usual equanimity and made his points.
I appreciated what one of the original bloggers at The Standard had to say about it a couple of years ago, Lost on the Left and Redlogix’s Lament.
