It’s Wiki of course but I don’t see anything in there about Muslims and Congress, which is not a surprise because even back then such a ban would not have survived first contact with a court, even before the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
You need to read the Koran, it is not a normal religion like most we know. One of the commands is to destroy western civilisation which they hate. The other is to kill all Jews and many others. If they observe their religion they could not integrate.
Islam is a stupidly oppressive institution. It is a sworn enemy of western civilizatiion, human rights, and the values that enlightened people (possibly including you) cherish. It has no tolerance for any other religious beliefs – ”kil the infidel” is a completely acceptable thing for any muslim to say and do.
I would be delighted to see Islam banned in New Zealand, but of course it won’t happen.

Good. any government that would exclude now 2 billion people because of their religion is a stupidly oppressive institution.
Even the United Kingdom woke up to that fact in the 1800s when they “emancipated” catholics.
