I said yesterday that as soon as I saw/heard Brooke an Veldens response (as Minister Of Internal Affairs and therefore responsible for the NZ Fire Service issues covered yesterday) I would post it.
I am just home from work so here it is and I will say this is probably the first time in her political career that Brooke has disappointed me.
This statement is so woke, trite, and banal – call it what you like – that I wonder if it has been written and submitted to The Platform on her behalf and she did not even see it, although I do note she was in her seat in the House at Question Time.
Here is Sean Plunket on the statement and Brooke if you or your staff should read this post I urge you to get on his programme tomorrow morning and sort this out because it is very disappointing.
Now a link to my post yesterday for those that did not see it.
Finally did anyone else see the cosy exchange between Rawiri Waititi and Tama Potaka as they were going to their seats at the start of Question Time today. Worth a look if you have the ability to access the coverage – next time is 10pm on Sky Channel 86 tonight.
No wonder National are holding back on the removal of Maorification from the statute books.
I would be interested to see if there is evidence that Maoris in particular have worse fire safety than non-Maori, and if they have more fires. If this is indeed an issue, then having one of the bros working in those communities on improving their fire safety would possibly make sense. As BVV implies, if you have an inferior culture, it only makes financial sense for the government to target and improve that culture.
I was informed yesterday that Kerry Gregory is Maori. That would explain the direction he is taking the Fire Service.
Unconnected but relevant, today I also discovered that Ripeka Evans is deputy chair of TVNZ.
She is one of the group, – including Donna Awatere-Huata, who went to Cuba for five weeks in the late 1970s.
How many other infiltrations do we have in strategic positions ?
Ripeka Evans?! Now there’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time!
I think I mentioned on a previous post something to the effect that all these unruly Maori activists in TPM will inevitably end up on the Boards of some Quango in 20 years time being paid too much money. Ms Evans seems to be the perfect case in point.
