This is an incredibly sensible idea, because poofs and commies can get fucked.

Naturally, Tory Grandee David Farrar is against this idea:

This bill would make it illegal for Government House to show the royal flag, when the King is in residence. It would also stop the vice-regal flag being shown.

This seems like a very odd thing for a professed republican to be concerned about, but whatever, man. When I went through NZ customs to leave the country in May, several of the customs officials were wearing rainbow lanyards. I’m not sure why gay, lesbian and trans people might have a harder time leaving the country than us ordinary folk, but these employees of the crown clearly felt that it was important to show their allyship to a partisan political cause at the expense of straight folk who just wanted to get the hell out of New Zealand.

In hindsight, it perhaps seemed an even more compelling reason to leave.

In any event, this bill makes sense. If I am paying a government agency through my taxes, it should not be promoting Maori independence ideology, or sodomy ideology. It should be neutral in these matters.

The Olympics flag would also be banned.

Lord have mercy! Not the Olympic flag! It must be hard going through life with manboobs and a mangina obscuring whatever is left of your masculinity, but one can’t help but wonder why Farrar thinks it is important to keep flying flags that most New Zealanders don’t agree with, or at least are indifferent to.

Make New Zealand New Zealand again. This is a good place to start.
