Decades ago comedian John Clarke (Fred Dagg) identified a problem with Kiwis when he said that we could spot the letter “Z” faster than any other English-speaking people on Earth.

I confess to suffering from this as well, which is why my eyes seemed to jump several paragraphs down in this story before reading the whole thing, but here’s the lead:

Federal agents seize 300 pounds of meth hidden in solar panels at LAX….U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced Monday morning that officers seized nearly 300 pounds of the highly addictive stimulant, which suspects attempted to disguise in between the panels.

Photos provided by CBP appear to show officers cutting through and peeling back layers of duct tape and aluminum foil strapped onto the panels, eventually revealing stacks of methamphetamine.

Meh. Another day, another drug bust in the USA. For me the real news was this:

….the federal agency did say that the shipment was heading for New Zealand

Meth is a very potent drug where a little can supply a lot of druggies for some time, but even so can our little nation of five million people really absorb shipments of 300 pounds of Meth?

Is our population more out of it and despairing than even I think it is?
