Newstalk is reporting our esteemed leader has joined the charade to back Palestine and a Two state Solution for Gaza???
After empowering the Palestine bit of “The Middle East” who have a long established policy, promulgated in many fonts, The Islamic Koran and the foundation charter for Gaza but two, that herald the total destruction of Israel, the one functioning democracy of the benighted but extremely wealthy region as a non negotiable premise
So then what will be that second state Mr Prime Minister? A province of an emboldened Turkey intent upon reestablishing the Ottoman Empire perchance?
A sole possible further establishment of the Abraham Accords does indicate a slim chance for a settlement but until there is wider acceptance of that primordial move even that slim chance remains a dream.
Peace between Judaism and Islam covering all the various sects involved will only become a possibility when some degree of reformation comes to Islam. I would not entirely discount such a seemingly impossible scenario, hell growing up under the threat of instant annihilation threatened by “The Cold War” I did not even dream of the destruction of The Berlin Wall and all that barrier represented, yet along came the Internet with Reagan, Thatcher and Gorbachov and rapprochement broke out.
Never say never but the underlying ferocity and loathsome diabolical actions accompanying October 7th attack by Hamas on Southern Israel do not imbue any degree of hope for moderation but unless Mr Luxon and his equally shallow promoters of “Two States” can explain something reality might support such pronouncements are utterly meaningless and should be regarded as such by all.
I think this is just a cover to push the issue out of the limelight, and I can see the point because it’s a no-win scenario for National and the Right in general.
This way the fringe like Minto will yell and scream that not enough is being done but Luxon can fairly say that he’s merely endorsing the long-standing solution that the UN and many other nations support.
The downside is the distinct possibility, given his stands on many other issues, that he still thinks a two-state solution is possible.
It’s not: it died on October 7, 2023.
Hamas has rejected the 2 state solution multiple times. Their stated end game is the destruction of Israel and death to all Jews.
