Te Pāti Māori announces Ikaroa-Rāwhiti candidate Haley Maxwell
Here are her Parliamentary credentials as outlined in the Newspaper article.
Maxwell helped organise the Hīkoi mō te Tiriti in the region last year.
“Haley Maxwell spearheaded the historic Hīkoi mō Te Tiriti from Te Tairāwhiti right through to Kahungunu. Haley embodies the fierce compassion and courage that Ikaroa-Rāwhiti is famous for,” Te Pāti Māori co-leader Rawiri Waititi said in a written statement.
“She has stood on the marae, in the courts and on the streets for our people. Parliament will be a stronger house with her voice echoing the roar of Te Tairāwhiti.”
The sitting MP for Ikaroa-Rawhiti is Cushla Tangaere-Manuel, Labour.
It looks the games are beginning early in what used to be called The East Coast Maori Electorate which extends from East Cape in the North to Cape Palliser in he South.
I actually expected Hawkes Bay’s Bayden Barber to be the Maori Party Candidate. He must be on too good a lurk as Chairman of Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated Board. I am fairly certain his selection would have enhanced the collective IQ of the Maori Party Parliamentary Caucus – then again I could be wrong on that.

Final Question – Do Liquorland Sponsor The Maori Party?
She can’t be that bright – the face tattoo missed the chin by inches.
