From Matua Kahurangi’s substack.
`While people are struggling to afford the basics, National is fixated on headline-chasing distractions that won’t put a single extra dollar in anyone’s pocket.
Even long-time National voters are starting to question the party’s direction. Many expected a Government that would deliver smart economic management and practical relief. Instead, they’ve been handed hollow gestures and arrogant posturing.‘
Very well said MK.

BTW MK I do not agree with taking GST off Fruit and Vegetables etc. That will cause far more problems than it will solve.
No it will not save much but to get to payment for a deal and to be confronted with another bit of cost is somehow annoying.
It seems too easy for traders to succumb to a bank charge and pass it on at the terminal when they are all too often being gouged by the terminal provider already.
What exactly is the additional cost over charging the card by reading the card and requing a pin and touch and go anyway. The traders should have resisted the gouging when new tech was offfered
I recently did a deal where the trader had no terminal as such only a laptop a printer and his cell phone, invoice, payment, receipt and out of there.
.
I absolutely refuse to pass on these fees to my business’s customers. Unless you’re a dairy and people are buying small items like chocolate bars with it, there’s no need to nickel and dime people.
I did find it interesting that EftposNZ emailed me today saying “don’t worry, we’ve got some ways around this”. Assholes.
