When Gen-Z says they are getting screwed by their societies, it’s not just whinging compared to the double digit interest rates and recessions that the Boomers faced in the 1970’s. What Gen-Z face is not temporary, but systemic – and it’s yet another factor delivering the West’s below-replacement birth rates.

Judging from the comments I see from “Zoomers” across the West, this is not just an American problem. I’d love to see the figures for New Zealand.

Einstein was wrong: MIT just settled a 100-year quantum debate

The experiment in question is the double-slit experiment, which was first performed in 1801 by the British scholar Thomas Young to show how light behaves as a wave. Today, with the formulation of quantum mechanics, the double-slit experiment is now known for its surprisingly simple demonstration of a head-scratching reality: that light exists as both a particle and a wave. Stranger still, this duality cannot be simultaneously observed. Seeing light in the form of particles instantly obscures its wave-like nature, and vice versa.

I was good at physics but the above was something I could never get my head around, even though we did the double-slit experiment with laser light and saw this result and even though the mathematics of it is undeniable, making accurate predictions in a range of areas that have been measured and confirmed repeatedly for over a century. Now the MIT people have measured this effect down to the smallest possible size:

Two single atoms floating in a vacuum chamber are illuminated by a laser beam and act as the two slits. The interference of the scattered light is recorded with a highly sensitive camera depicted as a screen. Incoherent light appears as background and implies that the photon has acted as a particle passing only through one slit.

Speaking of science, I enjoyed the following series of little AI videos which created images of dining in Earth orbit sometime in the future. I think you’d need a space station larger than that in the movie 2001 before you could get this internal size with sufficient spin to keep people from floating around.

VP J D Vance is looking stronger every day as a Presidential candidate in 2028, despite history being against a VP getting elected direct to the Presidency.

His sense of humor extends to himself, as when he responded to Southpark’s portrayal of him in their recent episode sticking it to Trump and including Vance as “Tattoo” (“De plane! De plane!“) in a Fantasy Island scene…

….together with his comments on the Sydney-Sweeney-Eagle-Jeans story

It didn’t take long for old video of her to appear, in a setting even more likely to set off the Left, for it turns out that the girl can shoot…

Of course Ms Sweeney may be setting of the American Left for reasons other than eugenics, guns and Nazis…

Even the Department of Homeland Security is being decidely unlike the usual humourless bureaucracy as they also leveraged the Southpark attacks on them.
