So progress aye, Next Americas cup will Mandate a person who is;/was capable of menstruating to be included in crews.
Will cramps and headaches be reasons to postpone a day or two.
Who is going to be designated to police this giant step for “Man”
I might just have considered person “Identifying” as Gender diverse may well have been selected if “It ” was talented sufficiently?
With only buttons to push is it not now more than merely likely an all female crew could win the damn cup or would such a crew be Womandated to have a cock on board?
Putting aside any argument of gender quotas (and no I’m not a fan of them), I hadn’t realized that a lot of the heavy manual work had gone away due to the introduction of batteries and motors to do a lot of the work. I don’t really follow the Americas cup any more as I thought it got silly many, many, many years ago.
I appreciate the engineering and design work, but it seems more like a science project then a sailing event these days
My kids dragged me along to see the Brad Pitt movie, F1, (not bad actually) and although I already knew about the phenomenal amount of science and tech they throw at the cars, it was still something to see.
The Americas Cup yachts have become like that, and after the 2000 event, when Butterworth and company headed for other teams and Kiwis were popping up in every team, I reckoned that they should adopt the F1 approach;
Have a set of professional teams rather national ones since that’s a farce now anyway
Make it annual or maybe bi-annual.
Have a series of races around the world at established places.
I’d agree about changing it to be more like F1 and losing the silly “national team” part that no longer makes any sense.
I have a reasonable knowledge of aeronautics and it has been interesting seeing these “boats” turn into aircraft travelling through two fluids – water and air – instead of just air.
I don’t think that you could say they are “sailing” any more
Inclusivity, diversity and saving the planet all wrapped up with rainbow hued bow!
“…ensuring the America’s Cup stays at the pinnacle of design and development in sport.” Yeah right!
Just does not sound like a Grant Dalton initiative?
It’s unusual to see sheilas admit they’re not up to it (in any way) to the point where their inclusion needs to be mandated.
