Starting with fun crime, which is even funnier given that I was alerted to this via a link to the Toronto Sun-Times:
Most cat owners dread their pets bringing home mice or birds. But for the owners of one felonious feline in Auckland, New Zealand, there’s a worse shame — being the unwitting accomplice to an unstoppable one-cat crimewave. His prolific laundry-pinching from clotheslines and bedrooms in the placid beachside neighbourhood of Mairangi Bay has turned 15-month-old Leo into a local celebrity and earned him a new moniker. He now goes by Leonardo da Pinchy.
And he’s got expensive taste. His frequent hauls include silk boxer shorts, thick men’s work socks — preferably with clothespins still attached — and in one mortifying episode for his humans, a brand-new 300 New Zealand dollar (US$181) cashmere sweater.
This is literally a storyline from the NZ children’s book series, Slinky Malinki.

More crime humour with the crime and punishment running in both directions, Former jail guards sentenced for using ‘Baby Shark’ to punish Oklahoma inmates:
One victim said he had to listen to “Baby Shark” for two hours straight, according to an investigative report. Another said the “weird little song” was blaring and played “over and over and over again.”
…
Gregory Cornell Butler Jr. and Christian Charles Miles were put on probation for two years and fined $200. They also were ordered to pay $300 in victims’ compensation and complete 40 hours of community service. They were also banned from working in law enforcement.
In case you don’t know how fucking annoying Baby Shark is and what it could do to your mind when played for two hours straight, here’s the YouTube version, all 2m8s of it – with 16billion views.

Let’s hope that stories like this don’t result in such inmates being released from prison due to inhuman conditions.

In further news of Law Enforcement corruption is this rather more standard story of crooked Sheriffs, this time in Massachusetts, courtesy of Howie Carr in the Boston Herald:
Ethically, things had been looking up for the Democrat party in Massachusetts. No one had been arrested in three weeks, since Rep. John Lawn had an accident first on Bowdoin Street and then in his trousers at Sheriff Tompkins’ jail on Nashua Street. And it had been 11 months since a Massachusetts sheriff was last arrested. That was Hampden County Sheriff Nick “Thirsty” Cocchi, who drove his state vehicle, with one tire missing and another flat, to the entrance of the MGM Casino in Springfield and then staggered into the casino.
Cool! But it couldn’t last as Sheriff Steve Tompkins got indicted for something called a “leave buy back” of $22,626.15 – because his life was tough on an annual take of $215,430.
Tompkins got his start the way most future jailbird Democrat sheriffs get their start. He was another hack pol’s driver, appointed by a Democrat governor, in this case Deval Patrick, to fill a vacancy… Just like former High Sheriff of Middlesex, “Honest” John McGonigle, and Essex County sheriff Charles “Chuckles” Reardon, both appointed by Gov. Mike Dukakis.
Normally you’d ask, where do they get these guys, but apparently such local Democrat pollies are a bottomless pool.

The corruption extends up as well with this story of one Troy Lake, jailed for environmental crimes. Did he pour toxic chemicals in a river, like the EPA did in 2015? Nope.
In 2018 the Feds raided his Colorado business, Elite Diesel – he was out but saw it on his security system – but didn’t drop the hammer on him until 2024 when he was charged with “conspiracy to violate the Clean Air Act.” The joke is that the Trump administration is easing these restrictions, as much for safety as anything else:
One [customer] was hauling 120 calves across the country when his truck nearly caught on fire due to the emissions system. It could have killed him and his livestock… Troy said he’d see school buses stuck for hours due to these issues. “I wasn’t doing [deletes] out of malice. I think all of us want cleaner air. But when we’re putting people out of business, there’s got to be a common ground,” he said.
…
The business spent around $350,000 on research and development. That wasn’t just for performing the deletes… 344 deletes between 2017 and 2020…. but for determining how the techs could make the engines run even cleaner through their tuning, said Holly. They spent $325,000 on an EPA test bench.
As usual Big Business could cope because they had trucks to spare when the engines failed due to these emission-control systems, whereas small businesses get crushed.
Troy will be out of jail by December this year – he was lucky and could have got five years – but it would be nice to see him pardoned so he doesn’t have this crap on his record.

One piece of good news on the justice front as Rachel Morin’s Illegal Alien Killer Finds Out:
El Salvador native Victor Martinez-Hernandez. He has now been jailed for life for first-degree murder, first-degree rape, and kidnapping for the horrific August 2023 attack on the 37-year-old mother.
…
Harford County State Attorney Alison Healey described Martinez-Hernandez as ‘completely and entirely unamenable to treatment or rehabilitation’ as she requested the harshest possible sentence on Monday. ‘If he is released our community is in grave danger … It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when,’ she told the court. The judge agreed, telling Martinez-Hernandez: ‘You are not a candidate for rehabilitation. There is simply no hope to rehabilitate you.
Would that we had judges like that in New Zealand. Rachel Morrin left behind five kids.

But it’s yet another indictment of “President” Biden’s team that they went after a diesel mechanic over EPA rules while letting a piece of shit like Martinez-Hernandez into the USA under their open borders policy and leaving him there. As Rachel’s mother said of them after the Senator from her state, Maryland, Democrat Chris Van Hollen, went all gooey over another illegal alien, the MS-13 gang member, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who got booted to prison in El Salvador:
He did not call our family. He did not give condolences. There was no action on the Democratic Party in any way, from Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Mayorkas, anyone here in Maryland. None of the senators did anything to help search for the murderer of my daughter.
