Rhetorical question … don’t bother answering unless you’ve sold your soul to St Jacinda of Woke. So, in the item regarding the murder of Conservative MP, Sir Richard Amess, no mention at all that his killer was a Brit who had converted to Islam … edited out … just that it was being treated as a terrorist attack.

Is TV One so cowed by she who would pull on the hijab at the slightest opportunity and who dishes out largess to public broadcasting that they are incapable of telling it how it is.

New Zealand … the way you’ve got it.

In the wake of the Auckland attack we were assured from on high that the government had explored every option in an attempt to keep the country safe from the ISIS terrorist let loose in New Zealand.

Wrong … it is now revealed that the government failed to invoke the ‘nuclear’ option which allows a sovereign government to deport refugees on the grounds of national security or public order, The process provides for the Minister of Immigration to certify that a person constitutes a risk to security and then, subject to Cabinet’s approval, the Governor-General can order the person deported.

So, why didn’t the Ardern government go down that route? We are told there were concerns that deporting him back to Sri Lanka could put him at risk from a government that doesn’t take kindly to ISIS terrorists. WTF … and we are? Then we hear from Immigration NZ that this was seen as a confrontational approach and it was better to let the system play out. And all this against the backdrop of a person who actively resisted any attempt to de-radicalise him.

Well, the ‘system’ did play out …. with horrific results but the Prime Minister cannot do a Pontius Pilate and claim her hands are clean. They aren’t … her ‘being kind’ meme has come back to bite her with a vengeance.

I’m thinking that they’re related

The terrorist attack in Auckland yesterday and the recent defeat of the USA in Afghanistan, that is.

The latter is a defeat by the way. Not in the sense of overwhelming defeat but a defeat non the less. Symbolic perhaps, but symbolism matters.

As such I wonder if our local “Mr S” was triggered by all this recent Islamic Jihadist triumphalism that’s been thundering across the Social Media accounts of the Taliban and their many associates around the world? Perhaps he thought it was time to finally act on his fantasies?

To that end, I thought that this passage from a letter written twenty years ago should be brought to people’s attention. The full text of the letter can be found in many places but this is from The Guardian:

If the Americans refuse to listen to our advice and the goodness, guidance and righteousness that we call them to, then be aware that you will lose this Crusade Bush began, just like the other previous Crusades in which you were humiliated by the hands of the Mujahideen, fleeing to your home in great silence and disgrace. If the Americans do not respond, then their fate will be that of the Soviets who fled from Afghanistan to deal with their military defeat, political breakup, ideological downfall, and economic bankruptcy.

Those Pesky Presbyterians

They’re at it again.

Three people stabbed in Manchester and eight pedestrians run down by a vehicle in Tokyo.

In both cases, the perpetrators screamed “Hallelujah, Hosanna in the highest!”

Arab apologists in Australia call these incidents ‘irritations.’

Self Radicalised?

In their latest effort to spin Islamic terrorism as ‘nothing to do with Islam, Victorian police describe the perpetrators of Christmas murder and mayhem in Melbourne as ‘self radicalised.’

I’m trying to figure out how this ‘self radicalisation’ business works.

Did they all experience the same message from Allah in a dream one night?   Did they not find support and encouragement for their blood-thirsty plans in the words of the Quran and the preaching from their respective mosques?

Were all those 600,000 nice chaps who voluntarily joined the Waffen SS during the 1940s also self radicalised?

Full marks to the AFP, ASIO and Victorian police for grabbing these fellows but when, oh when, will they call a spade a spade?

from those who might claim that the two ‘men’ who slit the throat of Father Jacques Hamel as said said morning Mass at his church in Rouen were just mixed up individuals.

The fact that one of them, Adel Kermiche, had been twice arrested for trying to get to Syria and join IS; that after they killed Father Hamel they ‘preached’ a sermon in Arabic from the alter; that on exiting the Church they were screaming “Allahu Akbar”; that IS has claimed them as ‘theirs’ … all of this is to be disregarded.   Islamic terrorism does not exit.

Well, go to it if you will.   Defend the indefensible.   Meanwhile my thoughts and prayers are with Father Hamel’s extended family and to the people of Le Belle France.

Updated … I see the attackers also managed to knife a Nun who is fighting for her life.     An octogenarian Priest and an elderly Nun and all in the name of radical Islam … not bad for those big brave Yoofs.

Coming as it did on the eve of the Republican convention.
Well, it cannot help but give him a boost.   America has always looked to immediate answers to complex problems
and Trump, for better or worse, offers immediate answers.

One cannot help but contrast the difference between the French and American leadership.   The French have no difficulty labeling radical Islamic terrorists as such.   Obama on the other hand can’t/won’t.   Terrorists yes, Islamic terrorists no, not on your nelly.   And by taking that line Obama is handing Trump a bludgeon to hit Hillary over the head with.   The ‘soft of terrorism’ line does resonate and, post Brussels and Orlando and Nice, it will resonate more.

I say again, Trump offers simple answers to complex problems and I suspect that right now ‘fear’ is a good breeding ground for simple answers.

You cannot label all Muslims as terrorists any more than you can label all Roman Catholics in Ireland at the time of the ‘troubles’ as IRA terrorists.     Radical Islam … yes, and you need to call them out as perverting a religion for their own warped ends and work with the majority moderate faction to isolate them and defeat them.   That is the ‘long game’.

I suspect Americans will find it difficult to play the long game and that is why Trump will be a net beneficiary from all of this.
