The Democrat Cities: Seattle

A few months ago I had a lot of fun covering the Antifa morons who decided to create their own society – CHAZ/CHOP – within the confines of the city of Seattle, and were allowed to do so by the even bigger Leftist Democrat morons who run that city.

Antifa should have just stuck with beating people up, smashing stuff and burning shit down because building things is not within their mindset or skillset. CHAZ was breaking down on basic things like food within days. However it managed to last for about six weeks until their “security teams” murdered a couple of people, starting with a young kid named Horace Lorenzo Anderson, who was yet another Black Life that didn’t matter to Burn Loot Murder:

“All I know is my son is dead. I’m still trying to figure out answers so I can sleep. I don’t sleep. My kids don’t sleep. I can’t even stay at home. My kids, they feel like they are unsafe at home. I’ve been buying motel rooms and I don’t have that type of money. I wasn’t prepared for this...

This doesn’t look like a protest to me no more,” said Anderson. “That just looks like they just took over and said we can take over whenever we want to.” [….] Anderson, to the contrary, says that if the city cannot break up the protest alone, officials should bring in the National Guard. “They should deployed them here to say ‘Man, it’s time to go,’” Anderson said. ” ‘It’s time to move on. And break this up.’”

So much for Mayor Jenny’s dopey “Summer of Love”. However, even that murder did not push her to take action.

<= This did.

So having her precious ass and property on the line turned out to be the tipping point. Good to know while being entirely unsurprising. As the noted historian of the USSR, Robert Conquest, had it with his first law of politics:

Everyone is conservative about what he knows best.

She sent the cops in and they shut down CHAZ/CHOP. In the end it was all quite peaceful, with the cops, many on bicycles, sweeping all before them, as though the inhabitants had already given up.

CHAZ Emperor Raz

No word on exactly what caused the former CHAZ “emperor”, Raz Simone, to be in tears in this photo as one of those arrested.

Perhaps, he was weeping because there were no more worlds to conquer.

Not that it was going to help the city recover much, as these photos of yet another plywood Democrat downtown show. Incidentally that blog post by a well known local TV weather forecaster, resulted in this:

Update: Because of this blog, my weekly weather segment on NPR radio station KNKX has been cancelled permanently. The KNKX statement has misleading information, with claims that are demonstrably untrue.

Thou shalt not embarrass thy Democrat masters. And that goes for the Police Chief as well. Enraged by the collapse of their utopia the Antifa/BLM mob decided do to the Chief what they’d done to the mayor. That Chief Best is a Black, female liberal who supports police reform and peaceful protests calling for such reform mattered not. But she had criticised the vandalism, arson, and rioting, which is exactly what you expect of a Police Chief, and that was enough for the mob.

Neighbors told the Lynnwood Times that some of their private information has been publicly disclosed on social media and they are afraid for their safety…

“They were very organized. They had radios, talking to each other. They had numbers they used to decal all their cars for who knows what. So, they were identifying all their vehicles individually by number. They came with a mission…”

[They] “shouted profanity and insults, took license plate information on vehicles, took pictures of homes, and asked little kids who lived in the neighborhood what schools they attended.

Of course they did. This is not a civil rights protest, and it’s not about George Floyd. It’s intimidation, straight up: tactics direct from the Sturmabteilung. The good news is that Best’s neighbours pushed back, demanding to see what was in the duffle bags being carried by many of the BLM/Antifa crowd, and blocking them from getting to her house.

The same crap was seen in Madison, Wisconsin at about the same time when Sheriff Dave Mahoney got the same “personalised” treatment., and that was despite all his efforts at being Woke and faithfully following in the footsteps of his Democrat mayor as she kowtowed to Burn Loot Murder. As one commentator noted:

It’s a message. It says “We know where you live and you can’t stop us. This time flowers. Next time gunfire and molotov cocktails.”  That’s the message to the sheriff.

Simiarly, reports out of Chicago are that none other than the Mayor’s office have allowed the cops there to start covering up their name tags because Antifa/BLM have been doxxing them and their families. Clearly it’s a nationwide strategy being followed by these “unorganised” groups.

In response Best wrote a letter called on the city council to “stand up for what is right” and to take action to prevent “mob rule”, although it should be noted that this is very different language than she used in an earlier letter to Seattle businesses telling them they were basically on their own when the mob came.

In the end however, it was not such things that got her, but plain old conventional politics. Even in the face of objections by Seattle’s idiot Mayor Durkin, the City Council voted to cut the Police budget by 14%, and Best “retired”. The cuts will cause police numbers to drop by up to 100 jobs via layoffs and attrition, but the number will likely be higher as Best is going to be followed by the same wave of police retirements that are happening in New York, Chicago, Portland, Minneapolis, Baltimore and other Democrat cities that have allowed Burn Loot Murder/Antifa to run riot and not backed their police.

In other words, Antifa and Burn Loot Murder have won. Residents of the city of Seattle have lost.

Best was the first Black woman to lead the Seattle Police Department. She served the force for 28 years. I think she has a better understanding of how to protect Black lives than do the mostly White members of the mob that marched on her house. And of course they’re never satisfied: the news of the budget cuts were met with demands for a complete defunding.

Sadly there’s worse to come, and from inside. Seattle has an effort underway that will likely exceed, over time, even all this damage, courtesy of their own Human Resources training.

As with the other Democrat cities of the USA, this will not end well.

Mugged By Reality – in Three Tweets

In an earlier post – Bliss it was in that dawn to be alive – I noted an ESPN reporter who rapidly evolved from being a BLM “Burn that shit down” supporter to angrily denouncing “these animals” invading his neighbourhood.

Something similar happened again the other day, this time in Seattle, where it seems Antifa/BLM are having another crack at things after the murderous failure of CHAZ.

Paul Gallant is a talk show host at 710 ESPN Seattle. He’s the co-host of “Danny and Gallant”, weekday mornings on the channel.

Back when Seattle was not dealing with CHAZ and President Trump was calling out the mayor’s uselessness, Gallant responded in an interesting way.

Chill Dawg.” That is so cool, even with the cultural appropriation, but then he is a sports reporter. It sounds much like the “peaceful protests” headline being pushed 24/7 about the current protests in Portland, Seattle and other places.

And then something amazing happened to Paul.

And then things got worse.

And with that freaking out came the following…

Personally I don’t think that an angry person should have a firearm. On the other hand, a couple of days before this the Chief of the Seattle Police Department made it clear, in a letter to Seattle Business Owners and Residents, that they were on their own.

“That wasn’t Anarcho-Communism” – in just two days

Commune Barricade

I don’t know if the news has penetrated all the way down to New Zealand but it seems that the Antifa and BLM groups in Seattle have finally decided to go beyond starting riots and instead try to build something.

Specifically – and very much in the spirit of the 1871 Paris Commune – they’ve decided to create an Anarcho-Communist “state” in the middle of Seattle.

They even took over a Police Station in the area, violently attacking the cops there for several days before the Mayor ordered the Police to abandon the station and effectively yield a six block area to Antifa.

This capitulation didn’t go down too well with the Seattle Police Chief, Carmen Best, who made the following address to her people to make it clear that it was not her decision. She also talks about the incredible physical assault Antifa and other groups made on her officers for days in full “Punch a Nazi” mode:

By contrast Antifa and BLM were ecstatic with their victory, naming the area the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone or CHAZ for short and making it clear that it’s not part of the systemically racist USA:

In some respects they got off to a good start for a new nation, even building a makeshift wall around the place and putting armed people to guard them and interrogate anybody wishing to enter – just like the USA! Maybe Trump should get these guys to build the wall along the Mexican border!

Oh right, they believe in open borders – for everybody else.

Same with firearms too, which apparently are only a scary threat to peace and order when they’re held by NRA members.

Naturally the MSM has been largely spinning for them, as this New York Times report had it:

“What has emerged is an experiment in life without the police – part street festival, part commune. Hundreds have gathered to hear speeches, poetry and music.

On Wednesday, children made chalk drawings in the middle of the street.

The entire area was now a homeland for racial justice — and, depending on the protester one talked to, perhaps something more..”

Ah yes, the echoes of history. Just a week ago I was watching, with my youngest, an episode of Simon Schama’s wonderful TV series A History of Britain, which contained these choice quotes:

“And human nature seeming born again.

Unhoused beneath the evening star, we saw
Dances of liberty, and, in late hours
Of darkness, dances in the open air.

We rose at signal given and formed a ring
And, hand in hand, danced round and round the board.
All hearts were open. Every tongue was loud with amity and glee.”

That of course was the poet William Wordsworth, tasting the delights of the early aftermath of the French Revolution in 1789 before … well, you know.

And in keeping with such histories – but taking nowhere near as long as the French did – the utopian world of CHAZ began the dreary, predictable descent.

First up: – food shortages:

😆😆😆😆😆

But don’t worry kids. They know the ultimate answer to this is to grow your own food:

God that is just so sad! Have these people ever actually planted anything in their lives aside from pipe bombs?   Next up – Meet The New Boss!

Raz Simone was merely a little known rap artist a few days ago but he has guns and is willing to use the sort of violence that the Seattle Police would not, as this Tweet from hernandez1987 @WeAreAntifa2020 showed:

Raz Simone and crew assault a man for tagging. Man said repeatedly he was kicked in the head, punched and had his glasses broken.

For tagging! Seems harsh but nobody ever said Revolutionary Justice was soft. As this other Tweet showed, some people were a little … shocked:

Policing in the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone by @RazSimone. There appear to be no body cameras, reports, or oversight and accountability.

Dude! Why would they need cameras and all that shit when they’re not the Police?.

Speaking of which, somebody who observed this assault called… the Seattle Police, who now seem to have the measure of CHAZ as this 911 operator shows with this awesome response:

“Ah,… that appears to be in the New Republic of Capital Hill, they can handle that”

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Raz also knows how to spin such events as well as any government department: The Seattle Police also finally admitted they had received reports of little businesses in the area being “taxed” by CHAZ.

Frankly that word smacks too much of the State, I prefer the old-fashioned term, “Protection Money“.

I think Raz is going to do well although I can’t see such a flamboyant figure calling himself General Secretary, let alone Executive Officer of the Week – with his decisions ratified at a special biweekly meeting by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs but a two-thirds majority in the case of external affairs.

I suspect that he thinks you can wield supreme executive power just because he’s carrying an AK-47.

It also looks like he’s more interested in another role.

Although perhaps he could start building an actual Fire Department…

As with everything else the Far Left touches, they’re finding that it’s much harder to stop a fire than to start one.

Yes, it’s all very funny in a sadly moronic, historical way, and will continue to be so – except for the 500 poor bloody homeowners and businesses in the area.

Tucker Carlson certainly had a lot of fun on the story with, The World Welcomes Its Newest Nation:

I guess none of the CHAZ Antifans and BLM’rs have ever seen the following diagram, but it’s truly appropriate here.
