Except the Melons likely do not see it.

Deranged, mad, touched, ignorant, indoctrinated, medicated, take anyone of the list, but the meltdown by Genter MP for Rongotai set a new low for a Melon MP to exhibit yet another question as to the supposed advantages of MMP bringing a wider population representation to the New Zealand Legislature.

I was previously unaware that insanity was a desirable trait in an elected MP but Genter, the US born self proclaimed saviour of all NZ by elimination of individual vehicular transport options beyond Cycling, pedestrian and public transport methods, allowed her enthusiasm to overcome decorum in a spectacular display of emotive overreach in the people’s parliament last evening.

Under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Barbara Kuriger while Nelson Labour MP Rachel Boyack was speaking, Genter and National Cabinet Minister Matthew Doocy engaged in interjections that went a whole lot more emphatic when Genter left her seat, crossed the floor and in an astounding display of intimadatory anger harangued Doocy while waving a booklet in open face to face confrontation.

Never seen in decades of following the house has such an attack eventuated, it was a new low following the “Kindness” meme that failed the NZ public so spectacularly since the insincere efforts of that woman in her shallow and gratuitous faux leadership.

The degeneration of civil standards in behaviour has suffered another blow and this effort must be dealt with before the sort of carnage not unexpected in other cameral situations becomes established here.
Free speech, and civility in debate is as essential to parliamentary process as water and oxygen are to life itself.

Nothing less than a suspension to allow the MP to dwell on her assault and total disregard for normal behaviour will suffice here, the Privileges Committee has no other option.
