Sympathy for the individuals in the video – yes. But for Portland as a whole – No. As a constituency they voted for the people who s policies made this their reality.
Why does the Left get a free pass over and over for the consequences of their policies? Why will all be better next time the Left get control? Why the hell do the Left get another shot?
The only rationale I can think of is Lefties are completely irrational and don’t have the critical skills to review their own efforts and outcomes. Which is so weird as Lefties demonstrate reasonable critical thinking when critiquing non Left wing policy and actions. They have a HUGE blind spot covered by their religious belief in Socialism and Communism.
This is a good example of how far people have to suffer before they’ll start doing something effective like voting for people with different ideas.
Instead, these people are just whinging about the lack of support from the city and the cops. It’s as if they didn’t have a fucking clue as to what the ideas were of the people they voted for. Given the attitude towards the homeless, criminals and cops of their radical mayor, councillors (or whatever they’re called in Portland) and all the hard line NGO activists lined up with them none of this should have come as a surprise. Yet here they are.
It’s one reason why I often doubt the power of the old Lenin line, The worse the better – unless you want things to get so desperate that a revolution can be started. Maybe that’s what the Republicans in Oregon and Portland should aim at, assuming there are any left. I certainly would have got the hell out of the place years ago.
